Single Day and Tutorial Only Registration Options
CEC99 is now accepting Single Day and Tutorial Only registrations. Single Day registrations are 50% off the full conference registration ($200 Members Single Day; $240 Non-Members Single Day) and include the complete conference proceedings (2400 pages in 3 volumes) and access to all breaks for that day. Tutorial Only registrations can also be made for the cost of  regular tutorial registration ($80 for one; $150 for two, $200 for three; or $230 for four). Please submit a CEC99 registration form (available at left) and mark either "Single Day" or "Tutorials Only" at the top of the form as appropriate.

CEC99 Schedule Now Online
A detailed conference schedule covering all plenary and technical sessions is now available online here. Information on the papers to appear in the poster session will be provided soon.

Best CEC papers to appear in Special Issue of the Journal of Knowledge-based Systems
CEC has arranged that the best papers, as selected by the Technical Chairs, will appear in a special issue of the Journal of Knowledge-Based Systems. Please see the details for the special Issue

CEC99 General Information

The 1999 Congress on Evolutionary Computation promises be the largest high-quality conference ever held specifically on evolutionary computation. CEC99 is a joint meeting of the IEEE International Conference on Evolutionary Computation (ICEC), the Conference on Evolutionary Programming (EP), and the Genetic Algorithms in Engineering Systems: Innovations and Applications (GALESIA) conference, three of the broadest and most inclusive events in the field today. This event is sponsored by the IEEE Neural Networks Council, the Evolutionary Programming Society, and the Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE). CEC99 will provide an inclusive forum for the presentation of the most recent results and applications the EC field has to offer while fostering communication and progress towards a better understanding of the issues facing evolutionary computation in all forms and applications. This event will set the standard for excellence, diversity, and unity for all future conferences in the evolutionary computation field.

Sessions confirmed for the conference include:

Theory and Foundations of Evolutionary Computations  Time Series Prediction
Engineering Design  Co-evolution
Dynamically Changing Fitness Landscapes  Data Mining
Scheduling  Applications to Breast Cancer
Teaching Evolutionary Computation  DNA Computing
Tools for Designing Efficient ECs Ant Colony Methods
EC and Knowledge-based Approaches  Evolutionary Computation and Biological Modeling
Particle Swarm Optimization  Quantum Computing
Multi-Objective Optimization

Tutorials to be offered on July 6, 1999 include:

Intro. to Evolutionary Computation  Intro. to Genetic Programming
ES-Theory: An Introduction  Evolutionary Optimization
The Evolution of Neural Networks  Techniques and Advances in Evolutionary Robotics
Data Mining with Evolutionary Algorithms  Bio-Inspired Hardware
Intelligent Agents, Mobile Agents, and Multiple Agent Systems  Artificial Life: The Swarm Intelligence Approach
Realizing DNA Computation  Co-evolutionary Algorithms

Additional details on all conference related information can be found at http://garage.cps.msu.edu/cec99/ . Questions, concerns, and inquiries can be sent to the conference email at: cec99@natural-selection.com . Also, see the web pages of the 1999 International Joint Conference on Neural Networks (IJCNN'99) at http://www.inns.org . IJCNN'99 will be held in Washington D.C. on July 10-16, immediately following CEC99. Registration to IJCNN is reduced by $50 when proof of attendance to CEC99 is presented at the IJCNN registration desk.

Conference fees . Registration (includes admission to all regular and special sessions) are as follows (see the registration form):

  • Regular: on/before 5/1 $400.00, after $475.00
