This meeting will bring together an international community from academia, government and industry interested in the field of EVOLUTIONARY COMPUTATION, i.e., algorithms gleaned from models of natural evolution. Examples of such algorithms are Evolutionary Programming, Evolution Strategies, Genetic Algorithms, Genetic Programming, Learning Classifier Systems, and similar paradigms as used in evolving e.g., Artificial Life, Cellular Automata, Computational Ecosystems, Cultural Algorithms, Fuzzy Systems, Immune Networks, Machine Learning, Multiagent Systems, Neural Networks, Simulated Annealing. The submission of papers dealing with all aspects of evolutionary computation algorithms -- i.e., with their theoretical background, algorithmic development, empirical investigation, practical applications, and their relationships to natural systems -- is encouraged. Papers submitted to this conference should describe significant, unpublished research in evolutionary computation and related fields as outlined above. Authors must submit five (5) complete copies of their paper (hardcopy only), received by January 31st, 1997, to the Program Chair: Thomas Baeck Center for Applied Systems Analysis (CASA) Informatik Centrum Dortmund (ICD) Joseph-von-Fraunhofer-Str. 20 D-44227 Dortmund Germany Phone: +49-231-9700-366 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
