Call for Workshop Proposals for CEC 99

The CEC99 Program Committee invites Workshop proposals for the 1999 Congress on Evolutionary Computation. A suggested format for the Workshops comprises of short presentations from leading experts in each chosen area followed by extensive discussion led by the Workshop organiser and contributors. However, the format of each Workshop is entirely flexible and the intentions of each organiser re. workshop structure should be made clear in their proposal.

It is intended that the contributors of each selected Workshop will submit short texts which will be available on these web pages in the weeks leading up to the conference. Points for discussion based upon the proposed texts will then be invited from the community and these, too, will be available for perusal. The objective is to pump-prime the sessions to promote an interesting and informative exchange of ideas and concepts. This should enable the identification of the state-of-the-art and short, medium and long term avenues of research and development.that will be of benefit to communities involved in both fundamental and applied research and practice.

Example topics are as those highlighted in the Special Session and Tutorial Calls but proposers should not feel limited to these areas as each proposal will be assessed according to individual content, proposed structure and overall relevance. Workshop organisers will be responsible for inviting speakers, ensuring their participation, ensuring submission of preliminary texts and structuring and leading the discussion sessions.
